Ico in a Blink

Note: Not strictly LBP-related*.

I have a confession to make:  Until last weekend, I never played Ico.  Shamefully, I called myself “a gamer”, having never experienced this epic work.  So on one of my rare days off work, I sat down to consume this sumptuous feast, all in one sitting.  For fun, I cobbled together a shell script to grab a couple of frames of video every twenty seconds or so.  Thirteen hours later, I could raise my head high again.  We had a few hiccoughs, and I’m not sure I like the effect, but I thought I’d share it with you:

In some ways I consider myself fortunate not to have played this. And SotC briefly. Because then project Trico will be an even better experience for me. I didn’t play Zelda OOT when it came out. I own Wind Waker but because of it I think Twilight Princess had more of an impact on me than those who played OOT when that came out. So I think I’ll wait for project Trico to come out. Also my bowl of belgium mutant-strawberries with milk sugar and cream pwnz.

Fantastic! This brought back many memories. I felt like shouting instructions when you looked like you were lost a few times.

BasketSnake, I don’t think you can compare the Zelda and ICO games in that way. All Zelda games have the same basic game structure, but each are woven together in very different ways. Team ICO games aren’t designed the same way.

But the feeling of playing something epic for the first time is the same. That’s what I meant. If your favourite FF game is 4 then chances are you played that before 7. I know I missed out on OOT but as a result I think TP gave me a greater experience.
