Little Bits for April 18, 2009
- More info on the upcoming LittleBIGPlanet merchandise keeps popping up. We’re all keeping our eyes on the Mezco Toyz product pages, and I’ve heard tales of some already earmarking $42 for a direct pre-order of the 4-inch figures, even absent a release date. Evil Avatar points us to a $34.99 listing at Entertainment Earth, but depressingly with a September estimated release date. I find the named-and-themed Sackboys (Sky? Marvin?) interesting, and wonder if they’re a Media Molecule or Mezco innovation. ToyCyte has some great behind-the-scenes pics, and even gave away some of the zipper pulls in a naming contest (pic of Pufflekins Jigglecakes here). The toy budget is being expanded here at LiBiPl.net HQ in preparation.
- Fanart: ~sadeceKAAN’s Sackboy Terminator gives us a different view of what’s inside (check out the other Sackboys too).
- Machinima: LittleBIG Watchmen is the Watchmen trailer re-rendered (mostly) in LittleBIGPlanet.
- Events: Media Molecule were scheduled to appear at F5 in New York City this year, but the official blog makes no mention of them. From the Twitter feed, it seems like PES replaced them. Good thing I didn’t take the drive down to NYC, but I am curious as to what happened.
- That Game Design Student has posted all of the materials from his project on using LittleBIGPlanet for prototyping, which I found pretty interesting. His levels are also still published if you’d like to check them out.
- Media Molecule posted a second Tips Special, this time with Danny and Mark from the MM design team showing you all about switches. Definitely welcome, as we’ve all played otherwise good levels tainted by ill-implemented switch mechanisms.
- Random non-LBP bit: The first speedrunner I ever met was doing speedruns of Ultima II, in 1984. As I recall, he had it down to under four hours.
