Beta Keys Make Me Crazy

First,an Important Note:  No,I don’t have any keys to give away.  If Sony takes leave of their senses and gives me a few keys to distribute,I’ll let you know.

The demand for Beta keys has certainly been astounding.  It seems like everyone’s itching to get a chance to recreate their favourite TV series as a level, even if it’s likely to be deleted in a little over two weeks.

Already over

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Screen Play blog had 500 keys to give out.  MeriStation had 1250.  German EuroGamer gave out their 250 keys in 36 minutes.  GameOver gave the names of some of their 90 winners.  GameReactor gave away 150.  GamePro.de had 2502old2play had 5 keys to give away, and wisely decided to limit it their contest to pre-existing members of their site.  D-PAD gave out some keys to lucky readers in the UK.  GameSpot had a trivia question on their On the Spot show to give away keys;unfortunately the keys haven’t actually been sent out yet.

IGN’s Podcast Beyond episode 61 gave me a chuckle,at around 33+minutes.. “We said ‘do not write in’[ . . . ]  you obviously were not listening.”“Stop emailing us.”  Eventually they did announce how to apply for one of the “few thousand”codes they had to give away.

Upcoming/ongoing

The official PlayStation Blog gave some pointers to places to keep an eye on.

Rumour has it that GameInformer has simply been emailing codes to random subscribers.

GamePro says they’re going to give away 1250 codes starting Monday.

G4′s X-Play show is set to give away 2000 codes;watch Tuesday evening’s episode for details.

The official LittleBigPlanet site published a post called “Online Beta access”,with only one word.  “…Monday…”  Your guess is as good as mine, but I guess we’ll find out Monday. :)

1UP has 2000 keys to give away, with details to be posted Monday.  They say to keep an eye on this countdown page.

A little birdie tells me that Joystiq will have some keys to give away as well.

I certainly hope that Sony/MM are getting the servers stressed the way they want.  Certainly the rest of the ‘net is getting a workout. :)
